Child of the Light: ..(Quote).."Red birds are all over my yard and garden all the time.   It gets better! "

I love birds and I  think they kinda like me....we have a thing going, magpies live here, galahs, honeyeaters, owls, kookaburras, sparrows, willywagtails, grass parrots, eagles, hawks, pigeons, ducks, cranes, crested pigeons! Sometimes they sing for us..

They know I love photography and  pose for me...my crested pigeon family(s) build nests right outside the house yard, they allow me watch the eggs, observe hatchlings, touch them, help them get back into their nest..

It's a beautiful world, and I know I enjoy their company ...it's a lot of fun.

It would be my guess that people get their messages in whatever medium which reaches them at the time.

I've had two very powerful messages through birds. Most of the time they are birds. I don't remember ever getting messages through lisence plates even though they have given me much amusement.

I have also received messages through the trees and quite lovely ones in the wind.

I totally love the wind as it is an unseen force and I enjoy pretending that I don't know what is causing the effects of it. I have seen dried leaves run and leap and dance, beating out a musical rhythm in the street as they seemed to race towards me. Without letting my brain say "oh, the wind is forcing that" it remains one the most magical experiences in my life.  The message for me is that with one "force" unseen, but known, how many more remain unknown?

On these walks I usually see many birds and mostly if they are speaking to me, I am not aware of the message. For several days I seemed to be followed by a crow. All that went through my mind was an old "Deep Thought"; "'The birds seem to be calling my name', thought Caw". I named the bird "Caw" but he soon disappeared. Any message never made it to my brain.

This is Woollup, a fledgling currawong that fell out of its nest.

I made a nest for him on the balcony and his mother came in regularly to feed him. When he got more mobile Neil and I created a gym with lots of sticks lashed to the dress rack his nest was on. He soared off twice before he could fly. The first time he was swaying about in a tree next to the balcony. I put out a long stick and he hopped onto it to be brought back. The second time he went over the fence to next door. I went around there and called him and he hopped out of a bush and on to my shoulder.

The third time he went over the back fence and into a tall tree. We went out and called him and he just kept going higher. We saw his mum find him again so we knew he was okay.

I often find injured birds or those that have fallen out of nests. I wonder what that means? I hadn't heard of this Abe quote before. I have no pets but so enjoy looking after wildlife until it is healed.

love

This one I found in the city near where I work. My transport is a bicycle so I had to get a friend to drive me home with her.

Her leg was broken and she seemed very scared. I put her in a box in the laundry, where she could see out to the garden.

In the morning I tried to feed her seeds, then slivers of vegetarian sausage. She put up with this nonsense for a few minutes then fluttered out to the patio and started pecking at ants.

She went into the jungle area of our garden and I didn't see her for a while, then she spent a week or so in a very tall palm tree before she fluttered to a big mango tree in our neighbour's yard.

Would be glad of any interpretation.

love

Leah

Hi - I was excited by this post - as I had a strange experience with birds last week - my son had received a diagnosis regarding his health a few weeks ago - and it devastated him - and all our family. I could not believe the grief that came up for me - to think his life may be shortened significantly - that he may be in pain from this day on- that harsh medications may be his lot. I have never cried so much as I have in past weeks.

But it was just a powerless feeling flow of tears - till last week one night I started to get angry - I was driving home from work and was crying screaming yelling and pleading with God, Life and all to heal my son, give my baby back - what a tirade. And I arrived home - went outside and more came - it was powerful, exhausting - and it was such a release - my heart had actually been hurting for weeks - and as I returned to sit on the veranda a big Owl fle past me - and sat right in front of me - for a very long time we just looked at each other - and I knew this was some kind of turning point - and this bird was an important messenger.
(I am reminded of those stories of when we really hit bottom and call out to God - no I dont usually refer to God - it was strange that this was what came out in my darkest hour -  and Life - and we do indeed get an answer)

I slept properly that night at last - and when I awoke I walked outside, no 2am waking in tears for my boy - and the first sight was a beautiful shiny black and white Magpie - right near me - eating orange berries from a palm tree - set against a beautiful brilliant blue sky - the contrasts of it all were so beautiful - somehow I had landed back in the world again.

Sure - there is still grief for my sons plight - but these birds moved me back into life - where I coud remember to love and nurture myself again - see and appreciate all the beauty that is still there (in and for him too) - and start to be there in a way that actually helped him
Thank You for reminding me of this experience - it got lost a little in past days - I must say  have really started to notice all the animals around me lately - a beautiul python (carpet snake) came to bake in the sun right near me the other morning - his presence just felt good - company.
On that note - I have jsut watched the movie he Golden Compass where every person had an animal - a familiar - that accompanied them everywhere - the animal being that persons soul.

Hi there, ive had a couple of very strange experiences but strange as they were i never thought they actually meant anything, the first was around two years ago i woke to find a red rump parakeet in my bathroom (this is not a native bird to the uk, so more than likely an escaped pet) but it didnt have an easy job getting in as my window is in an unusuall possition and it was only slightly open, anyway about a month ago i was on the computer around 3.30 am, i was sitting less than a foot from my window(closed) when a dove flew at the window then sat on the window ledge staring at me for about ten minutes, i cant put into words how strange that was and if it wasnt for the parakeet which sleeps in my room then i would have opened the window and let it in, im not saying for one second that i can communicate with birds but i knew without a shadow of doubt that the dove wanted to come in and wasnt the slightest bit afraid of me. Anyway its facinating to hear that there could be some kind of meaning to it. At the time of the parakeet coming to me i had a friend who kept saying "its a sign" lol but as she said that about everything and given that she couldnt elaborate on the so called sign i just took it to be the poor wee thing had escaped its home and was seeking refuge, nothing more, if anyone can throw any light on either of these events then it would be greatly appreciated::TU

I've never looked them up to find out what they generally "mean," but red-winged blackbirds have always signified success in my family.  When I was growing up, we raced sailboats, and when we'd be driving over to a race if we saw a red-winged blackbird, we'd usually win the races that day.  Pretty cool.

Glad to hear about the cardinals.  I have noticed more than usual in my yard this year.  They are such beautiful birds.  (We also have tons of wild turkeys, too, and they come right up to the house.)

I've always felt connected with birds.  I learned to whistle like a bird when I was a child and still talk to birds whenever I get the chance.

I have a bird story as well. A few years ago I was walking my dog up on a levee and thinking about my friend that I was aggravated with because of her irresponsible behavior  (this was before I knew about minding my own pie!).  My friend had a terrible childhood and I began to think about how that must have shaped her and then got to thinking about how blessed I was to have such a wonderful father (who'd passed the year before) and how he had influenced my life and the choices I make. Suddenly a shadow passed over me and I looked up to see a magnificent bald eagle swoop over me and land in a nearby pine tree.  The eagle just sat there and looked at me. There is not a doubt in my mind that that eagle acted as a message from my father. I sat down and just stared at it for several minutes. A group of bicyclists came by and I pointed it out. They were amazed! They ride on that levee everyday (just like I walk on it) and none of us had ever seen an eagle before. My father was completely bald and one of his favorite possessions was a photo he took of a bald eagle in a pine tree on one of our family trips out west.  I stopped grieving for my father that day, knowing that he was soaring with the eagles!

Here's a cute one:  !

And, Janie, how cool was that -- not only does your dad soar with the eagles, he's showing you that he is still nearby, keeping an eye on you -- and welcome to the forum, by-the-way!

How lovely!!
