Back on the ship (taxi took us back to the pier - we figured we'd walked enough).. for sailaway! Taxi driver asked us which ship we were on, and we said Noordam.. which meant nothing to him, so he drove us toward the waterfront and pointed at ships.. that one? no... bigger... that one? ..bigger?... bigger... yup! that really BIG ONE! The ships are arranged at the port of Barcelona by size - the bigger the farther out. Thus the long walk in the AM - but I loved it!

And the Noordam sets sail for Palma de Mallorca.. (I always tie a ribbon to the mailbox outside the door because those looong ship corridors make finding the room a challenge sometimes.. this sets ours apart from the row of doors... and yes, even after what has added up to MONTHS of cruising the HAL Vista ships, I STILL get confused about port, starboard, forward, aft, and etc. I do eventually find the room though. And this time David had a new system. It was called "our room is on the side with no plant". Worked great when we happened to get off one of the forward elevators. However, the other elevator banks had plants set all over the place... something that David refused to acknowledge.. sigh.. but I humored him and just said yadda yadda plant shplant... let's go this way. And that ribbon always appeared before we knew it.
How David managed to find the room when I wasn't with him is a mystery. I think he used his Garmin.

The next installment of the trip report will be in a new thread titled:
Jody's Med Cruise trip report installment TWO.
Please do not disturb...

While Jody is sailing to Palma di Mallorca, I won't disturb her. But I want to show you, what nice little surprise we got EVERY evening, when returning to our stateroom:
A funny little animal, made from towls sitting on the bed or hanging around and small chocolates and a greetingcard from the captain:
"The ship's captain and crew wish you a restful sleep tonight as we look to tomorrow's horizons."

and sometimes even little gifts from Esther and Jerry :

Only 200?! Wow.
How long did it take for lunch to arrive?
Love all the pictures & captions--makes it seem so much more alive for us non-sailors. Looks like so much fun. Thanks for taking the time to post these, Jody.
It's much appreciated!!

Since I have now entered a new level of the technology age and can upload photos, I thought I'd add one from Capri. This is an especially appropriate photo as it was this shore excursion I most looked forward to in prepaving this cruise. Enjoy!

Elisabetta,
Glowing is the right word. I think I was glowing because of the sunburn!!
Just kidding. We WERE so thrilled after that day.

It looks like your adventure was simply amazing. You will have to tell us about this new teaching of Abraham! Didn't use downstream/upstream?
I am jealous. jealous. jealous. jealous to infinity. I wish that I was there, and I'm disappointed that the universe did not get me on that ship.

Marcin, you know better than that! In fact you said it yourself - there is ALWAYS another ship!! We'd love to see you on a cruise! And so we will!

Kendall - gorgeous picture of Capri!! I only saw the island from "afar" and our guide said it's the most visited island in the world - for good reason obviously!
Elisabetta! My "book of positive aspects" is still in the cellophane - I must unwrap it and start writing - you are an inspiration!
Well, everyone, I'm going to start my NOTES today! YAY!

Marcin,
I spent about a half hour two nights ago typing up the short notes that I had and then the internet locked up on me. Haven't mustered the energy to re-type it all in but will soon. Seems like jet-lag is setting in/lingering on longer than expected???
