Hi Kevin! I'll be meeting you guys in Rome from the opposite direction and since I'm a very frequent international traveler I'll probably be able to use some miles to get me there! YAY!! So I really don't have any advice re:fares. But I'm sure other forum members will have something to say on this, and you are right - fares can vary wildly from week to week, and you do have some time....
Let's intend: Kevin and everyone else will fly to Rome safely, on time, comfortably, enjoyably, and for great fares!!! YAY!!! The Universe has our order - now all we have to do is expect it to happen!

Hi Kevin,
If I were you I would wait until late March to purchase your tickets, but definately keep checking websites until you find something that sounds good. Fares would be much cheaper out of NYC, if you can find a decent fare to get there. Having flown to Europe many times I find that the fares are a little more expensive 4-6 months out. I generally check mobissimo.com and compare that with cheaptickets.com and expedia. See how it shakes out starting in March. You might also check the alitalia website and see what they're offering.
In any case, you've put the out there. It'll be fun to see what great fares come your way.
Sending my own to take my 17 yr. daughter on this trip.

Thanks for the great advice Sharon. I fired off that rocket last week and I know that it will work its magic! I'm glad that you fired off your rocket too and I look forward to seeing you and your daughter on the ship. Take care.

Here I am on board the cruise ship... We have just set sail from Port... the weather is simply wonderful.... a deep blue sky with fair weather clouds and the sea is the most perfect teal I have ever seen... There is so much excitement among all of the Abers that already the rest of the passengers are wondering what we are excited about... and of course the excitement is contagious... The first day on board and already the joy is overflowing...
Blessings all we are going to have a wonderful time!!!

I LOVE your script of the first day! AMEN to everything you said. And so it will definitely be, with all of our wonderful energy and intentions!!
I think we need another emoticon with MORE PEOPLE on the deck of the ship, because if this one is YOU, then where am I and the other Abers?????

Hi Jody,
I had to let you know about my airfare purchase for the Rome trip. A few weeks ago I setup some email alerts to alert me when airfare prices drop for my trip from Phoenix to Rome. I basically left it up to the Universe over the past few weeks. I received a few alerts but nothing for the months of May/June.
Well, my wife and I talked this weekend about going out to Rome a day earlier and leaving on the 9th instead of the 10th of June. We could really get to enjoy the city for a couple of days before the cruise.
So yesterday I went onto British Airway's site and tried the old dates that we were originally planning to go and the price actually went up from before. I then tried the day earlier that my wife and I talked about and the price dropped quite a bit. For the 4 tickets I actually am saving about $1,000 just by going to Rome a day earlier.
Needless to say I purchased the tickets this morning and I am absolutely thrilled! I can't wait for May to roll around and I feel great now that I actually have our airline tickets.
Anyway, I just had to share that story. Take care.

We've been accumulating membership miles on American Express for literally years now, which I haven't used because I never figured out how to use them. Well, **coincidentally** a lady from the membership rewards program called the other day to ask what we wanted to do with all these miles (600,000+).
When we told her what we wanted to do, she turned around and had us booked within a day! For 250,000 miles each, we're flying First Class round trip! Yayyy! And I didn't have to do a thing!

Another point...in the October issue of REAL SIMPLE magazine there was a blurb about a web site that tracks your tickets/fares and lets you know if the fares decrease. You'll receive an email with instructions on how to receive your refund or future flying voucher. I googled "airline ticket fare dropped" (without the quotes) and found it on the third page, third item down. Or you can PM me for the information.
Sharyn, trying desperately not to break any rules!

Heeeeey! Old Peggy here under a new name.
So tonight my husband and I decided to go on this cruise and I'm SOOOOOOOOOOO excited! Then I remembered the roll call pages and came here!
I met so many amazing people on the Alaskin Cruise last summer. David and Jody, we just ran into one another for a moment, me not recoginizing David because I pictured you as 6'4" for some reason! But it was so nice to meet!
And Rick, do you realize what happened in those amazing woods in Sitka? I was walking past you on the path, (and back then you didn't have a self portrat on here), and as I walked past, all of a sudden, something pushed me back a few feet and I looked at you and said, "Rick? From the Abe forum?" After we visited and walked on by, I asked my husband, how did I know that? Did he say something? And he said no, you just took a couple steps back and then said his name.
To me, it was tapping into the great universal integence. How did I know who you were?
Those we some magical woods. I was so entranced by the energy there. Really, some of the most powerfully amazing moments of my life.
Anyway, Mediterranean here we come!
A great asset, go to the "virtual tourist" site online for locals views on what to see in any city. I wasn't excited toooo much about Monte Carlo untill I went there and saw the Japenese and Exotic gardens. The also have places to stay (a few days in Rome) and what are tourist traps. Great site to travel before we travel!
Elisabetta! We never talked much but you have always been one of my favorite people on this forum. I AM so happy that I will be able to meet you!
Yaaaaayyyyyyy!
