Hi all Alaska Cruisers,

Please can you give me some ideas on what to pack for the cruise.  It's my first cruise to Alaska.

Thank you all!

Hi Teddi!  Would you like to be added to the Alaska cruise roll call? We will be having a Forum members meet-up on the first day of sailing, and our forum discussion about Alaska is active on that thread.

You can see it here:

There have been discussions about packing before too, and I'll try to find the links for you.  Meanwhile, I'll just say that Alaska in July is VERY variable.  You can probably safely leave your really summery stuff home (I've never been tempted to wear shorts or sandals in Alaska), but you might be glad you brought a warm jacket, hat, and even gloves.  And everything in between!  It CAN be hot, but only for a few hours during the afternoon, if that.

Also, dinners in the main dining room are "smart casual", meaning no jeans, t-shirts or the like, and there are two "formal" nights - which can mean anything from a nice dress to a formal gown for women and a suit or tux for men.

If you do not dine in the Vista dining room, you can dress casually to eat on the Lido any evening, or in your room.

I usually wear jeans and a sweater during the day, and dress for dinner according to the dress code at night.  I do pack a swimsuit - there is an indoor pool on board, as well as a spa with hydro-jet pool.

The laundry services on board are excellent.  $12 for a bag of laundry, and $40 for unlimited laundry throughout the week.

Thanks so much Jody!  And yes please to being added to the roll-call list and the meet-up!

I am so excited!!!!::frog::frog::frog

Also, what time would you recommend would be best for dinner?  I think I might have booked myself for the later one (7:30pm) but I'm sure I can have that changed.

I was on the Oosterdam last October with my 4 sisters and the five of us had an absolutely awesome time but I am cruising solo this time.

Any other tips you have for me to keep in mind would be much appreciated!  This is such an awesome group!
