SO weird! I was at Findhorn at the end of 2003 sharing a room with a woman from Germany and one from the US. We were part of an international group and stayed in touch afterwards. Debbie from US forwarded something to me about the 17-second process. I printed it off and still have it somewhere. A couple of years later I migrated to Australia and started to use the internet. I looked at the Abraham material and it was like a shaft of light into my head, so comfortable and resonating with everything I'd ever known, thought or felt. I was hooked straight away. The Secret certainly came later. After that I looked at the get-rich-quick stuff advocated by Bob Proctor and Michael Beckwith and felt a real let-down about it... like if I pay umpteen dollars and get this briefcase all I've got to do is convince other people to part with umpteen dollars for a briefcase and I'm on my way.
No thanks!
I am mega-rich because I have a handle on my own power and not having it all right now is part of the fun. Having searched for so long via every self-help, pop-psychology and spiritual growth book you can name, I find Abraham covers it all with humour and in a way anyone can understand and start to use straight away.
I leave you with the guiding light of the New Age: YOU CREATE YOUR OWN REALITY.
love

| I agree with some of the others. The Secret opened the door (I saw the 2nd version). I already new about Abraham, but I was more receptive and open to all of this after seeing the secret.

For me it was a psychic last May. She told me to get Ask and It is Given and some other books.
I still have not watched the Movie, nor have I read the book 'The Secret' - I don't feel like I am missing anything per se.

I really like the way I started.About 2000 I remember lying on my bed ,furious .I was angry at God ,saying there must be some other way t be,surely we are not here just to be christians .There must be some non religous way to live.I'd got to the point when I knew I just had no feeling for the christian message and never had.But always the inner mystical side ,which involved feelings and meditation.
Strangely the next day or the same day ,not sure ,my wife at the time,Lorraine, brought in Conversations with God from a friend saying I might like it. Over a very short time I lost my fear of god and death altogether ,it burst something and than I found the new thought movement writings and in Sept '01 I found Abe on line.Promptly ignored it but oddly enough I ended up at the same page several times over a few weeks ,it caught ,never got fed up ,just continually brings good feeling I've been slow going up the scale ,but HEY! who cares,it is the utter best thing that I've allowed my self to find ever ever ever ....And now I've seen 'em LIVE and well, what can you say!!!!!! ::fairies(not sure wh at those weird dudes are) Steve I got so pleased to write that I suddenly realised it's got bugger all to do with the secret.I apologise from the heart of my bottom

You delight me, Steve. You are going to have to get that bottom over here to Canada, or on a cruise, so we can meet!

Yes, sort of. I guess you could say that the Secret was where Abe finally got my attention after years of trying!
AAIIG was popping up on my Amazon recommended list for about 2 years (yeah, 2 years... slooooooooowwwww to pick up on it!).
Then I heard about The Secret somewhere on the internet, can't recall where. I ordered the DVD, and was absolutely drawn in by Estherham's presence.
Then I went a-hunting on the information superhighway, realizing that "it" was sitting in front of me all along (duh!). Ordered the book, got on the CD program, and been enjoying ever since (that was fall of '06).
YAY ABE!

I thought "The Secret" was by Rhonda Byrnes and not Abraham-Hicks?

You are absolutely right Joy1975.
The first and original version of the secret featured Esther and Abraham. However, a few months after its release, the Hicks removed themselves from the venture and are no longer associated with it. Many people did see it however, and thus found Abraham that way. Others saw the later version, which introduced them to the concept of the Law of Attraction, and upon further research they were attracted to Abraham
Since I do not want to allow this thread to digress to the reasons the Hicks made the business decision to leave the Secret, and I think we can start some new threads asking how people found Abraham, I'm going to close this one up now. Thank you Kendall for starting the thread. It's been great and interesting - and it's time now for all of us to move on from the Secret.
