I've been a student of the Law of Attraction for about twenty years, and credit the inner work I did with the help of two amazing Religious Science ministers for a couple of huge manifestations in my life -- my "big break" in the entertainment industry working with Tom Hanks, and more recently, my linking up with my life partner (who is an inspirational singer/songwriter).
A few years ago, I discovered Abraham, who is by far the clearest and best teacher I have ever encountered in any medium! I attended a workshop, and got to sit in the hot seat, where I asked about time management for the self-employed creative artist, and of course got a perfect answer.
I've recently been inspired to put together a book of people's stories using Law of Attraction to manifest specific life-changing good in their lives, and may be messaging some of you to invite contributions!
I'm so glad this community exists, and that I can be a part of it!

Welcome!
This is a great place. Enjoy! And what did Abe say about time management for artists? I'm an actress and writer, and I would love to hear about it, if you want to transcribe the session, or paraphrase the essence of it. It's nice to have another artist in the forum.
Also, your son is a cutie!
Blessings,
Leslie

Wow, 20 years. That is very cool. Welcome, dear one.
I think it is the quality of the translation (by Esther) that makes it so gloriously easy to comprehend and so fun to listen to!
Love,
Christine

Hi Leslie,
You gave me a good excuse to transcribe my time in the hotseat! This is from 2/18/06, in North Los Angeles, CA. (I have the full tape set -- don't know if I made it onto any of the "highlight" tapes.)
Me: I am self-employed, as a screenwriter, and my question is really about time management. The flow of income is a constant issue, and the decision every day about what to work on when: I have a variety of projects and a variety of personal life tasks to do. There’s no boss, there’s no office; there’s no one saying, “Do this for these hours, and you’re paid x.” It’s all up to me, which is great freedom, but I often struggle with what to work on, and whether to just follow the call of Source at every moment, or to set a schedule: these projects, these hours, these days, and segment my time that way…?
Abraham: Well, certainly following the call of Source is what we would always recommend, no matter what, because every moment that you’ve worked on any project, you’ve offered clarification about what you now want to do. Every moment that you haven’t had as much to do as you want, you’ve asked for it to be steadier. Every time you’ve worked on a project that wasn’t all that satisfying, you launched rockets about how much more you would like it to be satisfying, and in what ways. So, Source has a very vivid picture of your ideal world as far as you have been able to carve it out, based upon what you have been living, which is ideal as it gets, really. And so if you can get yourself in a position where you can follow the call of Source, of course, that’s the best way to go about anything.
As we visit with our physical friends, we notice that many of you, while you are wanting to feel flexible, and in tune, and free to do that, still you say, “I have to deal with the nitty gritty of my day-to-day experience.” Sometimes we visit with people who are still employed, who want to not be employed. They want to be free so that they can create, only to discover that those creative juices don’t flow twenty-four hours a day, or even eight hours a day, or even four hours a day. In other words, those creative juices flow during those moments of utter allowance.
So if you could come to the place of realizing that you could treat most of your life like most people treat their jobs – in other words, sure, you have to deal with your finances, and of course, you have to deal with tending to your vehicles, and your family, and all of that sort of thing. So look at that as the nitty gritty of the action world that you have to tend to. But then ask of yourself an opportunity to be in a creative mode, and free yourself up by saying, “I will keep a consistent enough schedule that I will expect the creative mode to happen.” Now, we want you to understand, you don’t have to keep a schedule for that creative mode to happen. But if you believe that you do, then you do. In other words, if you have had your best moments when you were sitting on the beach, or sitting on your deck, or hunkered down in your office, in other words, wherever you have had your best creative flow moments, there’s a part of you that expects that that’s the way it needs to be. And so we wouldn’t quibble with that; we would do that.
But we want to say to you – and this is the biggest thing that we picked up from what you were offering here: that time management that you talked about – we want you to understand that when you manage energy, time will take care of itself. Because a little bit of time will be so expansive that a brilliant idea will unfold in it, and a long period of time will shrink -- in other words, time is a perceptual thing, and the way you perceive it, and the productivity that you get from any moment in time has to do with how in alignment you are with the broader you, and how much of that broader perspective is pouring through.
So really, what we are saying is, we would do as much as we could do to keep ourselves feeling good, and that really is a variable, because if, when you take time off, you feel guilty, the time off isn’t serving you. If, when you take time off, you’re getting utterly refreshed, it’s serving you. If the people who are up close to you are feeling uncomfortable when you’re not hard after it, then you’ve got to find a way of separating yourself from them so that they don’t see you when you’re not hard after it. In other words, you just have to sort of find the way that feels the best to you.
We see so many people, whether they are writing music, or books, or screenplays – it doesn’t matter what the creative endeavor is – who think that they have to carve out a big chunk of time, in order to really be productive. And we say, that is the thing that works against you the most. If you could say to yourself, “I want one hour a day of flow, and everything else in my life is working toward that.” So how does somebody work toward flow? Well, you eat things that please you. You breathe deeply. You take walks that thrill you. You interact with people you like. You do things that feel good. You tune yourself into vibrational alignment.
So, we don’t see people fighting it out in the real world, bickering and struggling and worrying, and then going in, and turning the switch, and getting into a state of flow. So if someone who is close to you is critical because you don’t seem to be in a really productive mode, where brilliant ideas are flowing through you, into your script, and they say, “And what are you doing now?” you say, “I’m doing the thing I do the most, and that matters the most: I am preparing myself vibrationally for the reception of brilliance. It’s my full-time job. This is what I work at: I work at getting tuned in, and then what flows, flows.”
And you’ve had enough experience to know exactly what we’re talking about. You know when you get into that mode, it flows. And you don’t have to say, “Oh wait, my time is up. I’ll come back later.” When it’s flowing, you’d miss the Super Bowl. You’d miss your best friend’s wedding. You would. When it’s really flowing, the satisfaction of the feeling of it flowing is as good as it gets, you see.

I am a writer also, and Abraham's response made me laugh in recognition.
I have finished projects in really short periods of time when I was tapped in and flowing with the material. And I have agonized for WEEKS over two or three pages, when I wasn't tapped in and was trying to substitute action for connection.
Thank you very much for transcribing that! What a lovely answer.

I appreciate all the positive feedback!
FYI, per Jody's suggestion, I copied my posts above to a new thread in the main forum, under "Abe on time management for self-empoyed artists," and there is more dialogue going on there...

Hi Eric,
I don't know which part of Los Angeles are you, but we have a wonderful Abe meetup once a month right on the boarder of Venice and Santa Monica.

Hey Eric! Thanks for sharing your experience with Abraham! It seems that it was what I was looking for today as I have a mental block while I'm trying to create new music. This site and all you people are amazing!
