This thing will start falling apart (if not already is) as number of users grow and traffic increase.
vBulletin is the world's best forum software, scalable and they have script to import wowBB into VB.

From user's and administration perspective VB infinitely more flexible and nicer looking.

I administer 3 forums on VB and can't imagine building business on anything else.

Just ask Abraham! :)

I have already checked them out long ago and will be using it as a backup.  The problem is that there's no guarentee from them, (I have called), that the look can be duplicated.  Also, The database here is about 300Mb and it seems not possible to back it all up.  Please PM me if you have other info.  Thanks!

Hi David,
Hmmmm.... mysqldump can't handle 300MB ?? (that is if it's MySQL?)
It is big but nothing out of ordinary.
For backups I ran custom .sh backup script daily as a cron job.

VB templating system is super flexible so visually things could be quite customizable.

Plus it got VBSEO plugin that makes the whole URL structures super SEO friendly for every thread. That's usual drawback of most other forum softwares.

I have tried a few times using shell access and have not been successful yet.  I will give VB a try, though.  Thanks for rattling the cage on this.  We've had problems, but have been running well for a few months now.   I will be in touch with you PM if I have questions, if that is okay.  Thank you so much!

I, and I think other members, appreciate the forum so much and that appreciation most definitely extends to all of the technical knowledge and understanding (and time and work) that is necessary to keep it running. There is alot of data here on the forum from all of the old threads and it is invaluable to our miniature "all-that-is" microcosm here on the forum.

Thank you David for all of your knowledge and work on the forum and thank you to other members, like Dream Catcher, who also have knowledge and become cooperative components of the Universe in exploring solutions to problems that haven't even happened yet! Truly magical!
