*FREE P.A.!----I have a gig this Saturday night at a swank party in Gramercy Park. I presented my fee to the client---my friend for 10 years---and he countered with a lower offer---$500 less. I said yes because I love him and it was my gift to him, then started resenting having to rent a PA, which was turning out to be around $300.
A friend offered to lend me his for free. Manifested a P.A., and love! SlowJam rocks this Saturday night!
*NO, YOU'RE NOT CUTTING MY PAY, THANKS. The website I write for hired a new managing editor, who informed me that my new fee would be almost half of what I was used to making. I didn't panic, get out of the vortex, or resist. I just immediately halted all of his projects, called him and left a message gently informing him that my fee was my fee, thank you, and that I was going to Hawaii next Tuesday and was available to talk about it after my return. He called back and said, "The fee reduction was a mistake, you'll get your normal fee. Get back on the projects!" Nice feeling.
*TV PRODUCER ALSO GOING TO BE ON MAUI I called my guy in Cali, who I never met, and gave him an update on the footage we've shot on me for this pilot he is going to pitch for us. He will be in Maui, too, next week! How serendipitous! He is also excited about the footage and is going to cut a nice reel with Final Cut Pro, with titles and music...and we're gonna get the damn deal and I'm gonna be on TV, yes, yes, yes! This year.
*SUPERCAR DRIVE TOMORROW! On race track! Overnight in hotel, woo hoo!
*LOVELY FRIENDS, LOVELY WIFE, LOVELY LIFE. Gonna run into that ocean next week holding her hand and say "We did it, baby!"
