Had a beautiful interaction with a butterfly, yesterday. He came and sat on a rock next to me with his wings together. It was a little breezy but I wanted to see his markings and asked him to spread his wings so I could see them and he did - but he was a bit slanted down, away from me, so that I was only getting a slight view and I asked for a full on view of his back, with wings spread. SO he backed up a bit, on the rock, so that he was slanted toward me and opened his wings.

As I was admiring his markings, I wanted him to do a little "runway" turn so that I could admire him fully and he did THAT! It was incredible. Then it was as if he said "You think THAT was cool, watch THIS!" and he sat for a minute as if to wait for the breeze to die down and then hopped to my feet and spread his wings so that I could get the full effect.

So, today, I had a similar interaction with a big, beautiful green dragonfly except when I wanted a little "runway" turn I was thinking about him sort of going in circles so I could get a look at the lacework in his wings and he got himself airborne and began circling around my legs! LOL! It was fanatastic! And as I was admiring the dragonfly I could see the same butterfly from the previous day flitting around near us. No other such beings anywhere near us.

Life is SO good!!

I have lots of dragonflies here too.  Never did in LA.  I thought perhaps they attacked people like wasps and bees.  Not so?  Are they considered good luck?

Today there was a pair of grasshoppers that look just like butterflies when they're flying and another butterfly. This butterfly was in the weeds at the edge of the parking lot and I wanted to see him land on the tippy top of a tall weed and he did that. Then he went and landed on the very top of a really tall string-looking weed that didn't appear to be able to hold him and he spread his wings making it appear he was floating in mid-air!

It occurs to me - and I'm rather surprised to realize - that I often talk to insects and also that they seem more communicative than animals. Hmmm...interesting.

Well mine isn't so interactive, but after reading this thread last night I was sent a photo this morning of some hand painted ceramic mugs covered in blue butterflies and dragonflies! ::LOL::LOL::LOL

This universe has such a sense of humour!

Wow, dragonflies seem to be quite friendly this year!

I made friends with a dragonfly a few weeks ago myself - sitting outside of the swimming pool waiting for my friends to finish their weight workout... we sat there together for about 15 minutes checking each other out!

It was the most amazing thing - I sat in the grass enjoying the sunshine (what a GORGEOUS summer it's been) and noticed this reddish dragonfly sitting about 10 feet away from me in the grass, facing me.

Every once in a while he'd flit up in the air, and move closer to me, landing on another blade of grass a bit closer to me, to watch and listen to me.

All the while, I talked to him like he was someone I hadn't seen for a long time, and I let my awe of the beauty of the form of a dragonfly flow through me as I talked to him gently and encouraged our bonding!!

By the time my friends came out 15 minutes later, that dragonfly was only about a foot away from my body, perched on the grass, checking me out as I smiled at him and gazed lovingly.

I've made friends with small animals before, but never with a dragonfly!!

It was so neat :)

Thanks for sharing and inspiring me to share my own wee dragonfly story.  I think dragonflies are the official representative of summer for those of us who focus on what we want, not what we don't want!

Diggit--

love that story, thanks for sharing!

i've been having interactions with bunny rabbits lately.  there's a marsh near my home and when i go for walks i usually see a couple bunnies happily eating grass.  i noticed that if i say the word "love" in my head and focus it on them, they don't move and just watch me walk by.  if i'm not aligned, they mysteriously run away before i get a chance to admire them ::chin

Good to know I'm not the only crazy one talking to the butterflies and dragonflies.

I was amused yesterday when I got to work.  The front desk security guy was outside smoking and inside there was a dragonfly at his desk like it was waiting to sign in.

I love the dragon fly ready to sign in with security!  :)

The day after reading this thread for the first time, we saw two dragonflies at my mom's house.  A blue one in the front yard, and a red one in the back yard!  ::hearts  I thought, well, I must have spent at least 17 seconds reading that thread!

Yesterday I wanted something to make me laugh really hard.  A few hours after thinking that, a friend posted a pic on facebook with a funny typo- with a big picture of a butterfly in the center!

Today on our walk, I thought about this thread, and then thought about dragonflies and butterflies for a little bit.  Then got distracted (walking with a two-year-old can have that affect!)  Then a bit later we were throwing rocks into the pond, and saw a dragonfly!  So sweet!

Up at the pool I had a dragonfly sit on my shoulder...it was there to drink the droplets of water off...must have been thirsty. One of the other women said...oh I see you have a little friend...and yes that is exactly what it was.

I have been seeing a lot of butterflies around. The other day I noticed one in the bush moving his wings up and down...when I got closer...I realized there were two butterflies...oh uh don't want to disturb that...after all...now I know there will be more butterflies around. I also was in appreciation to the Universe for bringing me that little driftwood scene of love.

A dragonfly AND an interior designer!! These past couple of weeks have been all about experiencing dragonflies, butterflies and a "genius" new interior design element!!

Okay, so design is an everyday thing but other than the flurry of inspiration that came from initially moving into such a small house (6 years ago) it is seldom of the "interior" variety! A small thing but STILL absolutely deLIGHTful!!! ROFL!!

I checked your profile expecting to see that you hadn't been here in a long time and that we attracted you with our dragonfly talk but the "Interior Designer" thing was MUCH more meaningful to me, personally!

I LOVE designing interior, architectural and those pesky little, weather-related, "co-existing with nature" elements but I'm currently all out of contrast in that department. Got a problem you need help with? Of course not, because you're a genius Source Energy CREATOR!! DANG!! LOL!!
