Have you ever been in a place where you're desperate and run right into something your were ignoring???

I am a Christian, and for a while now I have been "ignoring" the movie, "The Secret"...basically because I was listening to people tell me that it was of the devil! But there comes a time when you are desperate and you pray...and well God kinda puts what you're ignoring...(or running from)...right in front of your face. This is me.

I'm broke, miserable, in pain from way too many health issues and break into tears every 5 seconds! Life shouldn't be like this, and God said in John 10:10 that there was an abundant life for me to have...so where is it!?

Finally, I watched the movie about 2 weeks ago out of sheer desperation.

At the end, I said out loud "What the fudge! I've been lied too!" Everything I saw was the same thing the Bible was screaming at me but I listened to everyone else telling me it wasn't saying what it was saying!

Well..I found out about a week ago that there were 2 versions of "The Secret", and I went on a quest to find it and watch it! That is where I seen this Abraham character! HA!

All I can say is wow!

Then on June 11, I discovered this Forum...been lurking in that background reading and thinking. I have so many questions...like was does "IB" stand for???

I haven't quite put all this into practice yet because I'm not sure how, and right now, I have very little money to buy books, videos, etc but what I did have, I used to get "The Law of Attraction: The Basics of the Teachings of Abraham" off of Ebay. (Of which should get here today! I am so excited to start reading and learning!)I figured that would be a good place to start....plus I've been watching the YouTube videos, and so forth.

I have a feeling this is going to be an interesting journey.

Blessings to you all!!!

Welcome! Indeed, when I first read the book The Secret (there's a book version, too), I was put off by the materialistic feeling, until I got past the question of cars and money and "heard" the rest of it. The Abraham presence wasn't in that work but was indeed the foundation of the original work.

Ask and ye shall receive, so ask for resources to access these materials and believe that they will come to you. Library, videos, borrowed from friends, used bookshop. One of the Secret teachers, who also wrote one of the recommendations on the back of the Hicks' "Ask and It is Given" - Neale Donald Walsch - wrote "Conversations with God" and that book dovetails with all that you will find here and is in language that might help you "transition" over into the Abraham way of putting things.

But there are skillions of videos on both YouTube and at http://www.abraham-hicks.com, and that's a great place to start - sometimes I just put them on and do the dishes or make dinner and just listen, without even having to stay in front of the computer.

Fear not - having spent years in the Bible Belt myself, I can assure you that what you are finding here is the purest form of God's message there is. As though you finally had the ORIGINAL version of the Bible in your hands - before it went through all those editing sessions, the Council of Nicea, and whatnot.

It's good, and you ALWAYS have the choice in your life as to what you believe. Follow your heart, rather than what your head has learned, and certainly not what anyone else tells you - even anyone on this forum! You've got a direct connection to God and that is what will sort it all out for you. Try listening some more and see how it feels.
 :)
If you go to YouTube and search "Abraham-Hicks" with "Jesus" you'll get a number of videos treating your questions very directly.

Enjoy your time here - it's wonderful to have you, lurking or otherwise!

Hello The Rose Awakens,

I am so glad that you are finding a balance between your religious beliefs and your spiritual beliefs ( they are actually one in the same).

I know what it feels like to be conflicted and worry that you may be "doing something wrong", when you are only following your heart and IB.

Your relationship to God/Source is exactly that, your relationship. The great part about Abraham Hicks is that you do not have to change your beliefs. You convictions may actually become strengthened. There is no condemnation.

My littler sister is a Baptist and her husband is a Preacher. I talk to her all the time about her vibrations and the LOA (law of attraction). Never do I try to convert her or change her beliefs, I only attempt to help her gain greater clarity and expand upon what she already knows. She loves when I visit and share what I have learned.

P.S.
Welcome to the forum!

I hope you find inspiration you are seeking ::rainbow

I completely agree with tsallis..

I too lived the Christian life for 46yrs before I opened up and searched for truth at my families shock and concern.

Jesus said, Do not throw your pearls before swines.  Which really means, don't try to teach someone who doesn't want to be taught.  They are only wanting to shut you down, demean your beliefs and ridicule Abraham, Esther and Jerry.

I only answer people whom I feel their vibration who really want to know.  It is easy to tell the difference, you can feel it.

CONGRATS, I am excited for you as you venture out on your new journey !:oars:
